Early Childhood and the role of the Natural Selection Committee

The Acadanan society is organized in such a way as to optimize the survival of the fittest. Acadanan society can be a quite different experience depending on how you're born. In Acadanan society, there is a Natural Selection Committee that checks at birth whether a newborn is in their view strong or weak.

If the newborn is deemed weak, the Acadanan newborn will be taken outside of the forests to the deserts where they are left to die.

If, on the other hand the newborn is viewed to be moderate, or strong, the Acadanan newborn is brought into a supportive society inside the forests that protects the newborn until adulthood when he joins the Salath.

The Salath

The Salath is the Acadanan adult society, the society that has made the Acadanans such an integral part of the Luna Minoris Confederacy. Everyone governs the Salath, Acadanan society is in fact a very fragmented society, and all decisions are taken at the local level. The Grand Salath (all the Salaths combined) takes decisions only when the local level isn't enough to respond to the problem.

Acadanan society has had some benefits from the Luna Minoris Confederacy, though the society has had bitter debate on the issue. Acadanans prior to joining the Luna Minoris Confederacy enjoyed a fairly isolationist position that was ended upon joining the Confederacy.

Alien influences on the Acadanan society

With the arrival of more aliens, there has been a significant change in attitudes on issues such as death and the Natural Selection Committee. Acadanans don't have medicine as they viewed if a person was meant to die, they were simply meant to die.

This approach clashes directly with the other LMC cultures. It has led to Acadanan mothers demanding that medicine be introduced into Acadanan society, the males of society has resisted.

Likewise, Acadanans have had to face criticism from other LMC cultures (and a small minority within Acadanan culture) on the cruelty and arbitrary nature of the Natural selection committee.

This has led in fact to a reserved support of the Confederacy, although the Acadanans realize the benefits, they do not wish to see the Confederacy get any stronger as they fear the Confederacy will dictate fundamental changes to Acadanan society.

Acadanan cities: Perfect ecological harmony

Acadanan cities are the result of Acadanan horticulture that has sought to combine their needs for shelters and habitats and their desire to not harm the environment, Acadanan cities are in fact the forest - though the forest has been grown and the plants bred through the generations to grow into habitats.

In the underground of these same megalopolises, is the massive industrial base, which is the secret of Acadanan economic success, all factories have been and always have been kept in the underground - they are dark places devoid of any life aside from those who work there.
