Description of the Ship:

Unsuspecting of the coming depression of the 2370s, the Rosebourg Monarchy developed the Octum-class cruiser as a means of diversifying its fleet, especially at the cruiser level.

The Octum Class cruiser was designed as a cruiser that would be able to focus a large mega-wattage of weaponry on a single focal point.

The design, albeit cumbersome, was approved because the Octum Class cruiser would rarely be called for battle on open grounds.

It was expected the Octum class starship would be a sort of "artillery support" for the Royal Fleet's purposes.

History of the Class:

Because the recession hit just as the first hundred of the two-hundred fifty ship ordered were being constructed, the Rosebourg Royal Fleet was one of the first divisions hit by austerity measures. The Rosebourg fleet's order was cut to fifty-one vessels, all of which were completed between 2357 and 2387.

Although the Rosebourg Fleet's cut in spending was lowered in the decade that followed the recession, no order was ever placed on the Octum class cruiser also because of new designs and new focuses for the Royal fleet.

Major refits completed recently on all fifty-one models have allowed significant improvements in the missile and torpedo firing capabilities of the battlecruiser. Equally, its counter-missiles and torpedo technology has been significantly upgraded.
